The Fiji Women’s Crisis has this morning praised the strengthening of the Zero Tolerance on Assault cases.
Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre Coordinator, Shamima Ali said the toughening of the policy will act as deterrent to any types of assault and calls on police to continue ensuring people stick to this policy.
As part of their Zero Tolerance on Assault Policy, the person caught assaulting another person will not be bailed but will have to be kept in custody until they are to appear in court.
As of yesterday any persons found trying to harm or even assaulting a police officer would be taken and kept in custody. This is after police noted a lot of domestic disputes and assault cases over the past few years.
