Youths assemble for Naitasiri Youth Provincial Council meeting
That was the sentiment of the Roko Tui Naitasiri, Peni Sokia to the over 140 youths that assembled for the week long Naitasiri Youth Provincial Council meeting in Naqara village.
The youth council which had their last meeting in November of 2008 were informed that they needed to think of their future and it was during the week long workshop the youth underwent training from the Ministry of Youth as well as updated on the assistance Government was handing out in terms of jobs training through the National Employment Centre.
The Youth Council members from 90 villagers in Naitasiri were informed that they had investment shares worth $7,266.92, along with close to $10,000 in their bank and more recently the Naitasiri Provincial Council had endorsed 40 acres of land in Nadovu to be given to the youths where they had 2300 yaqona plants.
Sokia told the youths that as the future leaders of the country, they should ensure that whatever they learnt at the empowerment meeting should be taken back to the villages as the youths were the arms of the vanua.
The Youth Council was also revived with the office holders elected yesterday.
