Parents are now being asked to take an active role in their children's day-to-day life during the school break after two youths in Labasa were caught with counterfeit notes.

The Minister for Education Filipe Bole said that the incident clearly shows that children are now involved in criminal activities and parents should keep them busy in community service or such activities.

Bole said that this goes against their training from school, adding crime at an early age will be detrimental on society in the end.

The youths were caught over the weekend by Police in the North after they tried to buy soft drinks at a supermarket using the fake $20 notes.
