An 18 year old man who unlawfully drove away a car last year was today handed down a suspended sentence by the Suva High Court Judge Justice Priyantha Fernando.
Soroveli Qetaki who was charged with unlawful use of motor vehicle pleaded guilty to the charges after the court heard that on 31st December last year, Qetaki and his accomplice went to a warehouse of Ashok Chand and drove away his vehicle which was parked outside a factory.
The court also heard that Qetaki and his accomplice were chased by Police and the Land Transport Authority after they tried to evade a roadblock set up Land Transport Authority and the Police.
Judge Justice Fernando sentenced Qetaki to three months imprisonment suspended for one year.
