An 18yr old youth charged with robbery with violence, office breaking, larceny and unlawful use of motor vehicle was today sentenced to 18 month imprisonment suspended for three years.

The court heard that on 16th September this year, Leone Niumatawalu entered Prakash Motor Yard and stole cash and mobile phones and also assaulted the owner.

He pleaded guilty.

Suva Magistrate Kaweendra Nanayakkra gave him a suspended sentence saying that Niumatawalu and his friends had carefully planned the break in and assaulted the victim with a pinch bar.

She also noted that the 18yr old did not have any previous convictions and there was not enough evidence to support the fact that the victim sustained serious injuries and if the stolen items were recovered.
