Yanjian Group (Fiji) Limited has been awarded the tender to carry out the construction work of the new Ba Hospital.

The construction of the $35 million project is expected to finish in 15 months.

Acting Prime Ministe, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while announcing the details today confirmed that over 100 locals will also be employed during the construction stage.

It will be a 64-bed hospital and will serve as a bridge between the Tavua and Rakiraki Hospitals and the Lautoka Hospital.

The new hospital will provide a birthing unit, a 24 hour emergency facility, an x-ray and scan department, a laboratory, a dental unit, operating theaters, a mortuary and a pharmacy.

Sayed-Khaiyum said this is one of the first times that the government had collaborated with a private sector organisation which is the Ba Chamber of Commerce.
