The Yamacia Rugby Sevens team will head into the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s next week without the services of star player Semi Kunatani.
Kunatani who was outstanding in Las Vegas and Wellington in the last two legs has been rested by national sevens coach Ben Ryan and Yamacia coach David Dakuitoga due to niggling injuries.
Dakuitoga said they have a lot of other young players in the team who will be filling the big shoes of Kunatani.
Dakuitoga added that they support Ryan’s decision in allowing Kunatani to recover in time for the HSBC Hong Kong 7s.
He added that the “Y” symbol that Kunatani always shows after scoring a try stands for “Yalotabu” which means acknowledging the “Holy Spirit”.
Dakuitoga believes this is the secret behind the success of Kunatani and the Yamacia Rugby Club over the years.
Meanwhile some of the players to look out for in the Yamacia side are Sunia Vosikata, Mosese Mawalu, Sevuloni Mocenacagi who was a member of the national sevens squad and Emosi Togovatu who played for Daveta in World Club 7s last year.
Yamacia fell short in the cup semifinals in the last two Fiji Bitter Marist 7s and their motive this year is to move up another notch.
The tournament will be held next Friday and Saturday at the ANZ Stadium.
