Ba zone champions Xavier College will be banking on their jumpers to make history in next week’s Coca Cola Games.

Xavier is well known for producing outstanding jumpers.

HOD Pemac and former national high jumper Rosalia Raqato said although they have lost a few of their gold medalists to other big schools, they are working hard in assisting other athletes to step up.

Some athletes who are expected to win gold for Xavier next week are sub junior girls high jump champion Shawntelle Lockington.

Lockington is also holding the national record of 1.60 metres which she set at the Ba Zone last month.

Xavier finished in fifth place in the boy’s division while the girls settled for fourth place.

Other athletes who are expected to shine are intermediate girl’s high jumper Rosalia Raqato, intermediate 400 metres sprinter Jale Vota, intermediate girl’s 400 metres runner Jiuteci Sauvinaloto and Elenoa Galo who secured bronze in the senior girls 800 metres final last year.

Xavier will field 55 athletes.

The Coca Cola Games will be held next Friday and Saturday at the ANZ Stadium.
