X Factor needed in Fiji 7s team
This is what former Flying Fijians Rugby World Cup most successful coach, Ilivasi Tabua believes that is lacking in the Fiji team at the moment.
Tabua said that since the days of 7s wizard, Waisale Serevi, teams have come up with a playmaker in their side in the series who guide them during the game.
He picked the likes of Tomasi Cama Jnr, Uale Mai, Cecil Aferika and Dan Norton who are doing that at this stage.
Tabua welcomes the decision made by head coach, Alifereti Dere to include Wardens play-maker, Joji Ragamate in his 16 member training squad and he believes that while many think he is weak in defence it is all about the system the coach sets up around him to showcase his talent.
The USA 7s is for 3 days and will start this Saturday at 12pm with Fiji taking on Argentina, at 2.56pm Fiji will face host USA and on Sunday at 9.06am Fiji will take on Canada.
Cup quarter final will begin at 1.52pm on Sunday.
Cup semi final will begin at 7.32am on Monday and Cup final will be played at 10.28am.
While the team prepares in Las Vegas for the tournament, coach Alifereti Dere who will take the Fiji team to Hong Kong and Japan has brought in the likes of Joji Ragamate, Ilai Tinai, Niko Verekauta, Livai Ikanikoda, Sitiveni Waqa, Miti Nacagilevu, Joeli Lutumailagi and former 100 metres sprinter, Mataiasi Savou in his squad which marched into camp in Queen Elizabeth Barracks yesterday.
It is not known how this will unfold as Assistant Coach, Eddy Waqa clearly stated to Fijivillage that some of these players are not good enough to be in the Fiji team.
