The writing is on the wall for defending FMF Chow Games champion Suva to lift their performance to retain the overall title this afternoon.
After the dust settled on Day One, the capital city has struggled to hold their own in the boy’s division while they enjoy a slender lead in the girl’s category.
Fiji Athletics coach Albert Miller said that Suva will rely a lot on their relay teams if they have to win the title again this year.
After Day One, Suva leads in the girl’s division with 4 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
In second place is Lautoka with 4 gold and 1 bronze while Cakaudrove is in third spot with 3 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze.
In the boy’s division, Lautoka leads with 3 gold and 3 silver, Cakaudrove is second with 3 gold and 1 silver and Suva is in third spot with 2 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze.
This morning the first event will start at 8.10am with the Under 14 girl’s shot put while the first gold medal from the track will come at 12pm in the finals of the Under 13 girl’s 800 meters.
