Today is World Human Rights Day.
The date was chosen to honor the United Nations General Assembly's adoption and proclamation, on December 10th 1948, of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the first global enunciation of human rights.
UN Human Rights Chief Navi Pillay promotes a world of equal treatment for all.
Despite this, Pillay said discrimination is still evident today.
Pillay encourages politicians, officials, business leaders, civil society, national human rights institutions, the media, religious leaders, teachers, student to honour today by embracing diversity and resolving to take concrete and lasting actions to help put an end to discrimination.
