A workshop will be held today at ECREA, to start training squatter settlement representatives to assist them in identifying the type of assistance that can be administered to these settlements.
The survey which will be assessed by the Housing Department of the Ministry of Housing and Social Welfare will also assist the Interim Government in validating the amount and extent of help these families need.
Speaking to Village this morning, Interim Minister for Social Welfare, Adi Lau'Fitu Malani said the workshop that will be held this morning puts the wheels in motion for the much awaited survey.
The workshop with the assistance of the Ecumenical Centre for Research Advocacy and Education will involve representatives from squatter settlements in the Central Division.
The Ministry along with ECREA will also be using the results from the National Census 2007 to assist them in carrying out their survey.
