Works Ministry Works Around The Clock
Ministry Spokeswoman Sainiana Waqaibete said that they have come across roads that have been partly or fully washed away, some damaged beyond repair and even some that are still too unstable to access at the moment.
A brief look at the situation, in the Western Division:
In Sigatoka, 5 percent of roads in the area remain closed with markers put in place to assist drivers. However, major roads such as the Kings Highway and the Queens Highway are open with PWD calling for caution.
In Nadi, almost all roads are open to traffic. However certain areas are open to single lanes only as they are patching areas along the roads.
In Lautoka, there is minor road damage and 98% of the roads that were damaged are back and running.
In Ba, PWD have been able to restore most of the roads however in the Moto area they are facing some difficulties as the Bridge has been washed away and this has seen close to 10 villages cut-off from all source of help.
