Working Group to Revise Terms of Reference
This has been decided by the Working Group at its thirty-fifth meeting at the Forum Secretariat in Suva today which was attended by senior officials from Australia, FSM, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, New Zealand, PNG and Tuvalu.
The Working Group also reached an agreement on revisions to its Terms of Reference which take into account developments in Fiji since the original Terms of Reference were formulated.
The terms of reference are to discuss and monitor the progress and identify, assess and recommend credible mechanisms for returning Fiji to democracy as soon as practicable.
The proposed President's Political Dialogue Forum and the political and legal domestic developments as well as the creation of conditions which may lead to the relaxation of sanctions by individual Forum members will also be discussed.
The Working Group also discussed preparations for the Special Leaders' Retreat to be held next week in Port Moresby.
The Working Group will hold its next meeting on February 12th, 2009.
