A joint working group has been set up this afternoon to explore possible tax concessions and other means of easing the burden of rising fuel costs on Bus Operators around the country.
Speaking to Fijivillage news this afternoon Interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry confirms that the Working Group will put various proposals together before it is taken to cabinet for consideration. Chaudhry said their aim to ensure fuel costs are not handed down to the consumers.
Fiji Bus Operations Association President Pyara Singh said they are glad with the proactive steps being taken to hear their grievances.
The Joint Working group consists officials from the Finance and Transport Ministry, FIRCA, the LTA and the Bus Operators Association.
