The Chairman of the Public Service Commission said they will see that none of the workers lose their jobs due to the outsourcing of public services.
Rishi Ram said they have decided they would ask the contractors coming in to absorb the current workers to avoid any redundancy.
However, Ram said if workers have to be laid-off, then the Interim Government will look into voluntary redundancy packages and the Commission is talking to the Unions about the outsourcing issues.
Ram reveals that outsourcing has already begun in many departments.
Meanwhile, the Public Employees Union will be meeting with the Public Service Commission next week to discuss the outsourcing of public services.
The General Secretary of PEU, Pita Delana told Village News he has received confirmation from PSC that workers will not lose their jobs due to the outsourcing.
