Work on the new Media Decree has started.
Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum confirmed that his office is now actively looking at formulating the decree.
However, he said he cannot make any comments on it at this stage.
Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary for Information Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni confirmed that the Public Emergency Regulation (PER) will be lifted as soon as the Media Decree is promulgated.
