The government will not make any further comments for now as work is now underway at the new casino and convention centre site near the entrance of Denarau.

Casino developers, One Hundred Sands Limited was given a week last week for the commencement of the project.

According to One Hundred Sands Chairperson, Larry Claunch, they are well on their way to getting the $290 million project started. 

Speaking from the US, Claunch said the funding has been secured. 

However he said he will not reveal the names of the investors.

Meanwhile, Claunch said they will pay the Government US$100,000 per month from 1st October 2013 until the casino is completed.

Penalty clauses in the casino license between One Hundred Sands Limited and the government will kick in from 1st October this year if the casino is not completed.

Claunch said the project will take 12 to 15 months to complete.
