The Fiji Women’s Basketball team is not only aiming to win gold at the Pacific Games but to also qualify for the 2017 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
Coach Laisiasa Puamau says their preparations are at the final stage and they are ready to compete at the Pacific Games.
Puamau says they will need to win either gold or a silver medal to qualify for the Basketball World Cup.
He says the team will also receive a major boost when their overseas based players Letava Whippy, Mikaelar Whippy, Valerie Nainima and Leba Korovou join the team.
The team also played a friendly match with the US Mercy Womens Basketball team last night where they won 61-27, while the Fiji Mens team beat the US Mercy Mens Basketball team 77-52.
The Pacific Games will be held from the 4th to the 18th of next month.
