Every year five million people die from smoking and out of this 1.5 million are women.

These are the words of World Health Organization Representative in the South Pacific, Dr Chen Ken who said this year's World No Tobacco Day will focus mostly on women with the theme being Gender and Tobacco, with Emphasis on Marketing to Women.

Speaking to Fijivillage, Dr Ken said this year the focus will be on the harmful effects of tobacco marketing and smoke on women and girls and they want to protect them from efforts by the tobacco industry to tempt them to start smoking.
