Women around the world will commemorate White Ribbon day and the 16 Days of Activism against Gender violence this week and Fiji will also be having their own celebrations.

The Fiji Human Rights Commission will be partnering with the Ministry for Women and the other non-governmental organisations to raise awareness on violence against women.

According to the UN Development Fund one in every three women in the world suffers violence with Fiji having a total of 387 sexual assault cases and 229 cases of domestic violence up until September this year.

A march has been organised with various workshops and seminars to discuss the issue and how to offer support to those that have undergone trauma.

White Ribbon Day is celebrated every year on the 25th on November.
