A Draft Report aiming at eliminating discrimination against women was launched this morning by the Department of Women.
The report on the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women is the result of nationwide consultations carried out by the department since last year.
Communications Officer Fred Elbourne said the work of CEDAW is to promote equality for women in all areas.
The draft copy of the report was discussed by various NGO's in order to get their views on what can be improved with the report which is expected to be presented in Geneva next year.
The rectified Convention of CEDAW was signed by Fiji in 1995 with the understanding that Fiji tries to meet the 30 conventions against eliminating all forms of discrimination against women.
