Nausori Police have taken a woman into custody who is believed to be the mother of the baby who was abandoned in front of a house in Nakasi on Tuesday morning.
Regional Crime officer Eastern, ASP Aurthur White confirmed that the woman is currently being questioned.
The one week old baby was discovered by a woman who had come out of her house after her prayers at 4.30am.
The baby is being looked after by staff of Nausori Hospital.
