A 35 year old woman today escaped a jail sentence when the Suva Magistrates Court sentenced her to 12 months imprisonment suspended for 18 months.

The court heard that on 25th August this year, the house of Lydia Elma Hing was searched by the Fiji Independent Against Corruption Officers, where they discovered and confiscated a laptop and a cash box which belonged to Fiji College of Agriculture.

In mitigation, Hing told Magistrate Eparama Rokoika that she had worked for PSC for 11 years and is a single mum who also supports her parents.

She also informed the court that she had pleaded guilty and is remorseful.

Rokoika sentenced her to 12 months imprisonment suspended for 18 months.
