A woman and her child died after a tragic accident at the Suva bus stand yesterday afternoon.
The 46-year-old woman and her 3-year-old daughter were crossing between two buses when the incident occurred.
It is alleged that one of the buses was encountering engine problems when it hit the other bus and in the process hitting the two victims.
The two were rushed to the hospital but they pronounced dead on arrival.
Police say the bus checker was driving the bus at the time of the incident.
The driver was questioned and released last night while the bus checker remains in custody.
