A 22 year old woman, Tulia Adi Marama this morning pleaded with Suva Magistrate Aruna Prasad not to send her to jail for 7 days as she is still breastfeeding her baby.

Magistrate Prasad then told the police to go with the woman to her home to confirm whether she has a baby.

Tulia was arrested by police during the Operation Clean Sweep last week for breaching her bail conditions as she did not report to the police station and did not attend her court dates.

The court heard in 2004, Tulia was charged with charges of robbery with violence and Magistrate Prasad was going to sentence her to seven days imprisonment for wasting the courts time.

The case will be recalled at 2pm this afternoon.
