A 45 year old woman will spend the next 22 months behind bars after she pleaded guilty to three counts of obtaining money by false pretense.

Akanisi Lupe appeared in the Nadi Magistrates Court before Magistrate Nazim Sahu Khan this afternoon.

The court was told that between January to August this year, Lupe obtained $4600, $10,000 and $1000 from three different people claiming that she will be able to arrange visas to England.

However, she spent all the money for personal use.

She was given one months time to pay the sum of $15,600 back to the complainants however she failed to do so.

Magistrate Sahu Khan said that Lupe had taken the money from three innocent people and therefore sentenced her to 22 months imprisonment.
