Police are expected to lay charges on a 26-year-old woman from Wainikoro, Labasa for allegedly trying to poison her sister-in-law's tea on Monday afternoon.

Labasa Police confirmed that the 2 who are living in the same house had an argument after which the alleged incident took place.

It is alleged the woman mixed some poison in her sister-in-law's tea when she went out of the house to do some gardening.

After having a few sips of her tea, the victim felt the taste of tea was not normal and reported the matter to other family members.

She was rushed to Labasa hospital where she was treated.

Police have sent the tea sample to Koronivia Research station for analysis after which charges are expected to be laid.
