Police have charged a farmer from a settlement in Nausori for allegedly raping a 29-year-old woman early Saturday morning.
Divisional Crime Officer Eastern ASP Ramesh Chand confirmed that the woman was sleeping in her room when the 54-year-old man entered the house and threatened her with a kitchen knife.
According to Chand, the man then raped the woman before fleeing the scene.
The woman later reported the matter to Police and the man was taken into custody.
He is expected to appear in Nausori Magistrates Court later today.
