After arguably the biggest World Cup upset since fellow Pacific Islanders Samoa beat the Welsh in 1991, Fiji will now face South Africa in the last eight in Marseille on October 8.
The FMF Flying Fijians win against the Welsh also meant that this was only the second time that Fiji has ever advanced into the quarter-finals since 1987.
Speaking to Village sports, FRU CEO Ratu Timoci Tavanavanua said that the win is a good indication of the support system in the team.
The FMF Flying Fijians will now face South Africa at 1am on next Monday in Marseille.
Meanwhile in other quarterfinals Australia plays England at 1am on Sunday and at 7am New Zealand take on France.
On Monday at 7am after Fiji / Springboks match Argentina plays Scotland at 7am.
