Blues captain, Ali Williams has praised his team for the way that they bounced back from a narrow loss to the Reds by beating the Stormers 18-17 in a bruising encounter last night.

The Stormers scored the only two tries of the match through captain Jean de Villiers but it was not enough as Blues flyhalf Chris Noakes booted a club record six penalties to get the Blues over the line.

The Blues first win over the Stormers since 2009 keeps them in touch with New Zealand conference leaders the Chiefs.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs beat the Rebels 39-33 last night.

Gareth Anscombe scored a hat-trick for the Chiefs and Kurtley Beale also scored in his comeback game.

In tonight’s matches, the Highlanders will play the Sharks at 7.35 while the Force will take on the Reds at 9.40.
