The glass windows of buses will be made to open wider to act as an emergency escape route if an accident was to occur.
Land Transport Authority chief executive Etuate Koroi said teams have been sent out to ensure these measures are put in place by various bus companies.
However, Koroi said these are just temporary measures taken by the Authority.
Koroi added they are also looking at the construction of new buses which should have more than one emergency exit.
This follows the bus fire incidents in Navuevu claiming the lives of 12 people and another incident in Volivoli, Sigatoka, jeopardizing the safety of more than 50 students.
