The Suva Rugby Union questioned the board at the Fiji Rugby Union AGM yesterday on why there was so much loss incurred last year according to their financial report.
FRU suffered a net loss of $606,647 last year compared to $177,748 in 2011.
Suva Rugby Chairman Commander Francis Kean questioned the Finance Directors role in looking after the finances.
FRU Chief Executive Officer Manasa Baravilala said in 2011 funding was provided by the IRB but last year there was no sponsor but they managed to make some cost cutting measures at FRU in order to reduce the debt.
Finance Director Napolioni Batimala said that one of the reason FRU suffered a major loss was also due to the Bank of the South Pacific's withdrawal from sponsoring the Farebrother Sullivan trophy challenge last year.
