As Public Sector Unions remain on the path to staging a national strike within weeks, there is no sign of the one man who is expected to try and find a solution to the national crisis at hand.
Interim Minister for Public Service Poseci Bune who returned from Vienna on Sunday is yet to start work.
Officials at his Ministry confirm that Bune was expected back at work on Monday, however, he is yet to return to office and his mobile remains switched off.
And Village News has also received confirmation that Permanent Secretary for the Public Service Taina Tagicakibau who also returned from Vienna at the weekend, has left for Dubai as part of a trade mission and is expected back in the country in two weeks.
The Confederation of Public Sector Unions and the unions under the Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions were earlier told that Bune is the only one who can make decisions on their proposals to avert the strike.
Meanwhile, FICTU unions, the Viti Taukei Workers Union, the Public Employees Union and the Fijian Teachers Association lodged their 28 days strike notice yesterday with the registrar of trade unions and are expected to go on strike on August 1st after talks with the interim government broke down on Tuesday.
