Most parts of the Western and Northern Division are now facing the full brunt of a drought.
The Director, Nadi Weather Office, Rajendra Prasad said the dry weather that commenced in May, has taken its toll and most of the areas are affected due to insufficient rainfall.
He added that crops have been badly affected.
Prasad said they are assessing the situation and are hoping that from October the situation will normalise.
Meanwhile, a former Member of Parliament, Sanjeet Maharaj said they have been facing the drought for quite some time and their farmers are suffering.
He also added that due to insufficient rainfall they have also been facing water problems.
