The mining company, Westech has assured the interim government that they will not back off and will surely operate the Vatukoula Gold Mines.
Speaking from Perth, Director Brian Wesson told Village News that he has spoken to the Interim Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources who explained why government called for expressions of interests from other mining companies to operate the Vatukoula Gold Mines.
Wesson said he is not satisfied with this reason.
Meanwhile, Interim Land and Mineral Resources Minister, Tevita Vuibau raises concern that negotiations with Westech have been prolonged. He said new companies will be tasked to operate the Vatukoula Gold Mine if the Westech Company fails to come to an agreement within a month.
