The management of the new mining company Westech hopes to have the official opening of the mine in Vatukoula by early next year.

The longer period of time which is now being taken is due to the fact that the company is trying to ascertain the final number of workers and the time taken for them to undergo medical tests.

Westech Manager, Brian Wesson reveals that the management had hired the services of a doctor to ensure that the 790 workers they will eventually take on are medically fit to work in the mines.

With regards to their set time frame, Wesson reveals that everything is going according to plan and they hope to start work early next year.
