The Westech Mining Limited is concerned about the future of 600 workers as talks continue today on whether Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority will allow them to export gold.
Director Brian Wesson told Village News this morning that overseas investors are losing confidence in Westech and their income will certainly be affected if the export ban is not lifted soon.
Wesson said they have strong evidence to support that they do not owe any taxes to the Interim Government and their legal representatives produced this evidence.
Wesson said action taken by FIRCA has tarnished Fiji's image.
Westech has been asked to pay over 10 million dollars in taxes which was owed by Vatukoula Gold Mines.
