Mining Company Westech Limited is hopeful that they will reach an agreement with interim government later today regarding the operations of the Vatukoula Gold Mines.

Director Brian Wesson told Village News that they are committed to finalizing issues today. He denied that he has any knowledge that the interim government is willing to talk to two other companies, one from the UK and the other from Canada, who have shown interest in operating the mines.

He refused to comment further on this issue.

Meanwhile, Interim Land and Mineral Resources Minister Tevita Vuibau confirms two new foreign companies will be given the green light to run the Vatukoula Gold Mines if no agreement is reached with Westech today.

Vuibau added that final talks with Westech are expected to be held later today as some important issues are still pending to be resolved with Westech.
