West Tigers have emerged as the shock new favourites to sign former Wallaby sensation Lote Tuqiri.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal Tuqiri and West Tigers coach Tim Sheens held further talks over the weekend after opening discussions earlier last week. The move indicates Tuqiri is now ready to make a return to the NRL.

Sources close to the West Tigers claim Tuqiri is keen on signing with the club although he has also attracted strong interest from French rugby union clubs and Sydney Roosters.

Tuqiri was sacked by rugby union last month - losing a $2 million contract and has commenced legal proceedings against the ARU for unfair dismissal. The case is to return to court next month.
