A late blitz has seen Wellington rugby team power away from Manawatu 42-15 in their ITM Cup match at Westpac Stadium this afternoon.

Wellington trailed 15-5 in the first spell and did not take the lead until a Lima Sopoaga penalty put their noses in front 18-15 in the 67th minute.

From there, they ran in 24 further points including tries to Ross Filipo, Tim Bateman and Afa Fa’atau.

Wellington now leads the ITM Cup Premiership on 20 points, six clear of Canterbury who has a game in hand.
