The Digicel Fiji 7s team has an easy first day assignment at the Wellington 7s, to be played at Wellington's Westpac Stadium on the 6th and 7th of February 2009.
The pools and schedules have been announced by IRB, confirming that Waisale Serevi's team will play a mouth-watering tie against Samoa, whom they have already beaten in two Cup quarterfinals this season, as well as George Cup quarterfinalists USA and another competitive South Pacific Island side in the Cook Islands.
Fiji is seeded fourth in the tournament and is drawn in Pool D and Coach Waisale Serevi said no team can be underestimated.
South Africa are the tournament's number one seed, having won Dubai and George 7s tournaments this season and face arguably the toughest pool challenge of all the top sides. They have been drawn in Pool A with Kenya, Scotland and Tonga.
Host New Zealand is second seeded and heads Pool B with Australia, Wales and Niue while England is in Pool C with Argentina, France and Canada.
South Africa lie at the top of the IRB World 7s Series standings with a maximum 40 points, ahead of New Zealand on 28 and Fiji and England on 24.
