ACT Brumbies Coach Andy Friend will resist contacting former Crusaders mentor Robbie Deans for advice ahead of tomorrow night's Super 14 clash, declaring "they can win on their own accord".

Deans led the Crusaders to five Super Rugby championships during a nine-year reign at the club before taking on the Wallabies coaching role last year.

He arguably knows more about the Crusaders strengths and weaknesses than anybody else involved in Australian rugby.

Friend admitted as much yesterday, but declared he would refrain from calling on Deans for inside knowledge ahead of the Brumbies first home game of the season.

The Brumbies/Crusaders match will be played tomorrow in Canberra at 8:40pm.

Meanwhile, in today's Super 14 games, the Hurricanes play the Highlanders at 6:35pm, the Waratahs host the Chiefs at 8:40pm while at 10:45pm the Force take on the Cheetahs.
