The Social Welfare Department is currently looking at how many people do not need assistance under the Social Welfare Assistance Program.
Social Welfare Minister Doctor Jiko Luveni said it is amazing that Fiji is the only country in the Pacific that provides assistance to people.
She said that they are now trying to find out how many people do not receive assistance.
Doctor Luveni said that there are currently 26,000 recipients of the Assistance Program throughout Fiji who either get $60 or $120 per month depending on which criteria they come under.
