As squinting eyes continue to search the skies for signs of rain, the Nadi Weather Office confirmed that the dry areas in the Western Division and the outlying islands are expected to receive rain over the next 24 hours bringing some relief for residents.

As a trough of low pressure lies slow moving over the Fiji group, it has also been confirmed that the Nausori area received the most rain any center has received over a month within the last 24 hours.

Nausori recorded over 50 millimeters of rain since last night while there was also light showers in the West.

The Nadi Weather Office confirmed that the trough is expected to intensify and with cloud slowly developing over the Western division, rain is expected from this evening into tomorrow morning.

The weather office also confirmed that Viwa island, the Lomaiviti group and nearby smaller islands are also experiencing rain which is a welcome relief.

However, the rain would be an unwelcome scenario for soccer fans that are expected to converge in the thousands in the capital from today for the Courts IDC.
