The Nadi Weather Office is hoping that they will get an increase in their allocation when the National Budget is announced next Friday.

Director Rajendra Prasad said he is still in the process of compiling a report on why the increase in funds will be needed. He adds that Fiji's cyclone season is always one of the main reasons why there is a constant need for the upgrading of their equipment to enable them to carry out their job more efficiently.

Prasad said more funds will also allow for the completion of some unfinished projects which have been on hold for some time.

One of the projects which the extra funds will be used for is the completion of the installation work of the radar in Labasa. He said the project which has been pending for two years has been placed on the high priority list.
