The Fiji Electricity Authority (FEA) said it will lose a lot of money if the current dry weather pattern continues because generating electricity through the use of generators has become far more expensive.
FEA CEO Hasmuk Patel said they cannot do much as they have no control over the electricity tariffs which is controlled by the government.
Patel had earlier confirmed that water levels at the Monasavu damn had deteriorated drastically after receiving very little rain in the past weeks.
Patel said if the current dry weather pattern continues for sometime than the last option will be to close the operations of the Wailoa damn and rely on diesel generators.
He had requested business houses to use their generators for power supply if the situation deteriorates.
