We will rock you tonight and will be the first to lift the Tadra Kahani Senior Division trophy tomorrow night.
That is the message from Ratu Kadavulevu School Arts and Sports teacher, Uraia Toribau as the RKS Tadra Kahani team gets ready to perform tonight at the Vodafone Arena.
Toribau said he has been listening to the radio from this morning and hearing that the schools who performed last night had powerful performances.
But he calls on people to wait for tonight when they come on stage with their theme “Desperado” focusing on when a family breadwinner loses his job and the desperate measures that are taken.
With the finalists for Tadra Kahani to be announced tonight, some schools, although wanting to be in the finals, are hoping that their messages last night got through to the audience.
Suva Grammar School student rep Viliame Nawakalica said more important than making it to the finals is getting their message across which was based on the theme "Parental Negligence".
Organiser, Total Event Company Manager, Loretta Jackson said the judges have a tough job tonight.
Sharing similar sentiments, Sila Central High School student rep, Atunaisa Toroca said competition last night was tough however they hope that people watched, listened and absorbed their theme which was "Handcuffs of Poverty - exploring the lack of options in life for some unfortunate young people".
Toroca said he hopes their school was good enough to make it to the finals tomorrow night.
Tonight in day two at Tadra Kahani in the Junior Division will see Nabitu District School, Nakelo District School, Pacific Harbour Multi-Cultural School and Dilkusha Girls Primary. In the Senior Division, Monfort Boys Town, RKS, Khalsa College, Tavua District, Cuvu College, Tavua College and St Vincent College.
It was a powerful start to Tadra Kahani 2009 as four Primary and four Secondary schools took to the stage last night to battle it out for a spot in the finals for both the Junior and Senior Division titles respectively.
In the Junior Division, International School Suva, Rishikul Primary School, St John Boscoe Primary School and Bainivalu Primary and in the Senior Division, Suva Grammar School, Rishikul Sanatan College, Sila Central High School and Lomary Secondary School now wait for the finalists to be announced after tonight's performances.
