The Social Democratic Liberal Party will bring back the i-Taukei Affairs scholarship and the Multi Ethnic Affairs scholarship if it forms the next government.
Speaking to 80 people during the SODELPA rally at the Soqosoqo Vakamarama Hall in Nabua yesterday, SODELPA Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa claimed that the National Toppers Scheme does not benefit the itaukei students.
Ro Teimumu said it has been known in the world that indigenous people including the Itaukei have their weakness in the areas of education, health and housing and they should be given the assistance.
She highlighted that the UN Declaration on the rights of the indigenous peoples, was written to protect the indigenous people in the world including the itaukei people.
She also told the people in Nabua that the i-Taukei people should be assisted all the time especially with education, health and housing.
Meanwhile, Ro Teimumu Kepa has also clarified the claims published in one of the dailies this week that SODELPA has an immunity plot to free the 2000 coup maker George Speight.
Ro Teimumu said that the claims are not true and she does not know where the idea was coming from.
The claim was printed on the front page of the Fiji Sun newspaper last Thursday and SODELPA has also registered a complaint with the police against the media organization and the FijiFirst Leader.
Police Chief of Operations ACP Rusiate Tudravu sas they have handed over the case to FICAC to investigate further on the claims.
