Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has said we need to future proof our homes and infrastructure to be ready for natural disasters that will head our way in the future.
While speaking to the newly appointed permanent secretaries, Bainimarama said a lot needs to be done to ensure that Fiji becomes stronger after Cyclone Winston.
Bainimarama said we also need the assistance of other countries to rebuild Fiji.
The Prime Minister said Fiji has become stronger after Cyclone Winston and the authorities were also well prepared for the strongest cyclone to hit the country.
More than 30,000 homes were destroyed or damaged by Cyclone Winston.
Meanwhile, Bainimarama is going to New York for the Formal Ratification of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change next month.
He said what has been achieved is not enough and the industrialized nations need to do more.
Bainimarama said the industrialized nations have a clear moral obligation to use some of their wealth to help the vulnerable countries build their resilience in this terrifying era.
